Dialogue: The dual (two) in conversation
أَحْمَد
هَذَانِ كِتَابَانِ جَدِيدَانِ.
These two are two new books.
زَيْنَب
وَهَاتَانِ قَلَمَانِ. أَيْنَ الْقَلَمَانِ؟
And these two (f.) are two pens. Where are the two pens?
أَحْمَد
الْقَلَمَانِ عَلَى الْمَكْتَبِ. وَالْمُعَلِّمَانِ فِي الْفَصْلِ.
The two pens are on the desk. And the two teachers are in the classroom.
زَيْنَب
هُمَا طَالِبَانِ. وَالطَّالِبَتَانِ فِي الْمَدْرَسَةِ.
They two are (two) students. And the two (female) students are in the school.
أَحْمَد
هَذَانِ بَيْتَانِ كَبِيرَانِ. وَهَاتَانِ سَيَّارَتَانِ جَدِيدَتَانِ.
These two (m.) are two big houses. And these two (f.) are two new cars.
زَيْنَب
أَيْنَ الْكِتَابَانِ؟ الْكِتَابَانِ عَلَى الْمَكْتَبِ.
Where are the two books? The two books are on the desk.
أَحْمَد
الْمُعَلِّمَانِ فِي الْفَصْلِ. وَالطَّالِبَتَانِ عَلَى الْكُرْسِيَّيْنِ.
The two teachers are in the classroom. And the two (f.) students are on the two chairs.
زَيْنَب
هَذَانِ قَلَمَانِ جَمِيلَانِ. وَهَاتَانِ حَقِيبَتَانِ كَبِيرَتَانِ.
These two are two beautiful pens. And these two (f.) are two big bags.
أَحْمَد
هُمَا وَلَدَانِ صَغِيرَانِ. وَهُمَا بِنْتَانِ صَغِيرَتَانِ.
They two (m.) are two small boys. And they two (f.) are two small girls.
زَيْنَب
هَذَانِ مَسْجِدَانِ كَبِيرَانِ. الْمُثَنَّى: ـَانِ مَرْفُوعٌ، ـَيْنِ مَجْرُورٌ.
These two are two big mosques. The dual: ـَانِ nominative, ـَيْنِ majrūr.
